From the McDonald’s DC Team
The McDonald’s D.C. team celebrated National French Fry Day with an activation on the Hill! During the morning commute, the team handed out 1,000 fry-shaped flyers letting Hill staff, Members of Congress, Capitol police officers and others know how they could receive a free large fry on the MyRewards app in honor of the holiday.
Later in the day, the team co-hosted a kick-off reception for the Congressional Women’s Softball Game (CWSG). CWSG is an annual tradition by the Capitol Hill community. Two constituencies important to McDonald’s work in D.C. take part in the game – the Bad News Babes (a team made up of women from local and national media outlets) and the Congressional team (made up of Republican and Democrat female members from the House and Senate). The game raises money and awareness for the Young Survival Coalition (YSC). YSC is the premier global organization dedicated to young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer. They offer resources, connections and outreach so women feel supported, empowered and hopeful while battling cancer.
Burgers, nuggets, chicken sandwiches, pies and cookies were provided and served by the fabulous crew from local Owner-Operator Carlos Mateos’ restaurants. McDonald’s was recognized by Atalie Ebersole, Executive Director of the game, in her remarks not only for our partnership but our commitment to community.
Special thanks to Lisa Cooksey and Betty Interiano (Mateos Organization) for their help pulling off the Congressional Women’s Softball Reception and Victoria Drzymala and our partners at A123 for their help creating our National French Fry Day flyers!
